Put A Ring On It S3 E1&2

Well, it’s a reality television review. I’m not going to go blow by blow (because I didn’t take any notes), but I’m thinking this show is trying to top itself.

Last season, they had a break-up and the dude brought his new woman to the reunion. I won’t rehash that hot mess, however, I think this season is aiming to top last season’s shenanigans. I don’t quite know how I feel, but I also can’t quite turn away. It’s like watching a train wreck.

Of the three couples, I am actually concerned for two of the women’s safety this season. Charlana & Otis, who have been dating for three years seem pretty off to me initially. When I listen to Otis speak, I sense someone who is trying to give “old-school dad” but does not want to give the woman respect in the process. The way he speaks to Charlana is pretty demeaning. When she went on her date, he was pretty mean and petty when she returned. He told her to take a shower because “she was dirty” because she brought the flowers her date gave her home. Then he proceeded to talk lightweight crazy to her. She is young (he admits that he likes his women young), and probably needs to experience life a little more in order to see that this is not normal.

Kenneth and Shorty seem pretty unevenly matched to me. Kenneth seems like he is still trying to find himself while Shorty is pretty much established. Everything seemed okay until the admission of Kenneth’s past actions (posting negative things on her station’s website, bad-mouthing her to people, etc…). This dude is crazy. THEN he stole her phone and sent himself screen-shots of her financial information. I would have gotten out of that car, and left the entire situation right then and there. Like other bloggers/you-tubers (Bondy Blue) I feel that she is afraid of what he will do if she leaves him. She needs to run like the wind and get away from him. He is putting on so that he doesn’t look as bad as he really is. Shorty needs to go on ahead and use this opportunity to expose him and get out while she can. I’m sure Hollywood will help her out somehow.

Finally, Alfonzo and Shay. This is, on the surface, so ridiculous. I can’t see why either of them is with the other. If you have been with him for three years, in a real relationship, and you have only met his mother once then you should know that he doesn’t take you seriously. She is still invested in his child’s mother because that is who he is serious about. And the fact that she showed out when it was time for him to go on his date just displayed Shay’s insecurities even more. She followed them outside and opened the car door. Now, I will say that Alfonzo’s date didn’t flinch.

In all this episode didn’t give much, however, it laid the foundation for everyone’s insecurities and how they are manifesting in behaviors.

All in all, I said all this to say I’ll keep watching and next time I’ll take some notes. This season is going to be for show.
